The PHC Men's and Women's soccer season ended last Monday with games against Potomac State College, a satellite school of West Virginia University.

The Lady Sentinels finished their season with a 5-4 record and the Men's team with a 0-7-2.

The unity of the woman's team impressed Lillie Schmidt and others—especially with the large amount of new players. Out of the eleven starters, six were new players and yet the team "really came together," Schmidt said.

Captain Stephanie Schultz said that the team's ability to unify stemmed from its dedication. "There are amazing girls on the team and you get to spend a lot of time with them. You build amazing relationships because you are working hard, sweating together, and killing each other," she said.

Injury afflicted the woman's team, but this only increased the team's determination and trust. "Towards the end of the soccer season we were plagued with injuries—it really forced us to pick it up," Schmidt said

Although the men's team had a losing season, captain John Curry said that as a team, the season was "excellent." The large number of new freshman created a challenge, but "we have good new talent, which is promising for the future."

Ryan Gilles does not have any regrets because "in a way, us losing brought us closer than winning would," he said.

Even when the team got discouraged, Gilles said the experience "created a brotherhood."

During the last game, coach Russ Sandifer told the team he would rather coach their team then other teams with a winning record. Even when they were losing the team would always give it their all, Sandifer said.
