Welcome! We are excited to join Patrick Henry College for their tenth season of summer Teen Leadership Camps! Of course, we're especially excited about the Art Camp and look forward to meeting you. You're in for an exciting week that we hope will help you reach new levels of achievement and joy in your art. Here's what your week will consist of:
The AM and PM sessions each run about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Each day consists of a variety of activities with other camp students. The Arts Camp is limited to 30 students so we can offer one-on-one guidance and instruction.
Students will receive both group and individual instruction. In addition to ongoing instruction about the use of materials, recognizing values and color, and planning your design and compositions, notes regarding anatomy and form, and references to various historical examples of art, you'll also learn the benefits and joy of keeping an art journal. Tracy Klicka will show examples of her own art journals and share tips on creating a beautiful book of your own that you'll treasure for a lifetime.
Tim's goal is to teach you the principles of painting and enable you to find the answers to issues on your own. This isn't a color-by-numbers class; you'll learn to both see and understand the truths before you as you draw and paint. God has revealed Himself through His Word and through His creation. We believe, being made in His likeness, that it is to His glory that we seek the truth and respond to it. As artists, we have the opportunity to show the world the beauty that exists before our eyes, and it is a delight to do so! This week will introduce you to new tools or hone those you already have to help you best to use the vision God has given you.
We will be concluding this fantastic week with a student show featuring your piece beautifully framed for the gala Friday evening! This will be a highlight of the evening, and give students a chance to share their work with others. JFM Enterprises has worked with Tim to provide a beautiful frame for each student at a fraction of their normal cost, and you get to take the frame home with you.
We're excited that you're joining us, and we can't wait to meet you soon! If you have any questions, please contact Tracy Klicka. You can also learn more on Facebook at the PHC Teen Arts Camp page.
