Piano
Credit for applied piano study at all levels is offered at PHC from our highly accomplished adjunct faculty. Applied lessons earn one credit per semester and count towards elective credit for non-CLA-Music Track students. Piano students meet with their professor for a forty-five-minute lesson each week and are responsible for fulfilling specific rehearsal time requirements. They write a concert paper on an attended piano performance and take part in a concert featuring all PHC piano students at the end of the semester.
Chorale

The PHC Chorale began as a student organization under the volunteer directorship of local musicians. Since the fall of 2006, it has been offered for credit under the leadership of Dr. Steven McCollum and is comprised of students from all academic disciplines. With a repertoire that spans all eras of music, the chorale has grown technically as an ensemble to master increasingly advanced musical works. The Chorale plays a significant role in representing the college in various venues both on and off campus.
Chamber Music
Credit for participation in a small chamber music ensemble can be earned. Participation is open to qualified students (J.S. Bach scholarship recipients and by recommendation of the Director of Music). PHC students have also formed not-for-credit musical ensembles to sharpen and maintain their gifts and to pursue good stewardship of their talents. The Student Orchestra and the Bluegrass Band have exemplified musical excellence and been featured at various campus events.
Music Chapels
At the end of each academic semester, members of the chapel guild organize an all-music chapel, which takes place during the final corporate chapel session. All PHC students are invited to share their musical talents with the campus community in this time devoted to worship through music. Some have formed small ensembles and presented beautiful instrumental arrangements, and some have utilized their solo vocal talent.
Local Opportunities
In addition to the musical opportunities and outlets found on the PHC campus, students have explored the surrounding community and found numerous opportunities for service and growth. Many serve in ministries at local churches as worship leaders, instrumentalists, and vocalists, facilitating a context for fellowship in direct service to the local body of Christ. Some have also participated in the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra or occasionally made weekend appearances at local coffee shops with acoustic and vocal performances of both popular and original music.
